When is sex safe during the IVF cycle?

Certain phases allow normal intercourse, others need real caution, and the timing of each makes a difference to both the cycle and the couple.

• Bleeding episodes. Any spotting, bleeding, or pelvic pain during the cycle means stopping intercourse outright, scan first, find out what’s going on, and resume only when the treating doctor explicitly clears it.
